About us
A bridge between the Church and the society
From the very beginning the Catholic Centre of Macao has carried a clear and modest mission: to be a bridge between the Church and society. That bridge is not only about passing on the faith, but about putting love and service into practice.
In the 1960s, when Macao was still finding its feet, the Centre opened its doors as a space for education, culture, social life and spiritual growth, where people of every background could belong.
It is both a building and a platform — allowing believers to deepen their faith, non-believers to learn about the spirit of the Gospel, and those in need to receive assistance.

“Come and see!”
The new building is designed around the theme “Encounter between God and Man”. It stands 17 storeys tall with a streamlined façade and a cross at its summit. Inside are a chapel, a multi-purpose auditorium, exhibition halls and spaces for spiritual retreat — preserving the functions of faith formation while opening its doors to the general public.
“Come and see.” The new Centre is built around the idea of an encounter between God and people.

Spaces open to everyone
The Centre has exhibition halls, a multi-purpose auditorium, activity rooms and meeting rooms available to organisations and individuals alike. Applications are open to everyone, regardless of religious background.

Since it was founded in 1962 the Centre has been a landmark of the local community and a place of the spirit. Over sixty years it has witnessed Macao's changes and become part of the city's shared memory.
Every gift becomes the lights that keep the Centre running, a lecture in the exhibition hall, a prayer in the chapel, and the community programmes still to come.
